Description
The immune-boosting effect of berries, beets, and oranges, combined with the gentle detoxifying support of cilantro, makes this subtly sweet smoothie a favourite in my Bliss Reboot program. It’s refreshing, vibrant, and nourishing — the perfect post-workout refuel.
The combination of fibre-rich fruits and veggies, along with protein-packed soy milk and hemp seeds, helps support steady energy, muscle recovery, and hormone balance — all especially important for active women in perimenopause and postmenopause. Don’t worry if you’re not a cilantro fan; simply swap in a handful of spinach.
The avocado or frozen banana gives this smoothie its signature creamy texture, making it both satisfying and easy to digest. If you don’t have soy milk, any plant-based milk will work — just add a scoop of your favourite plant-based protein powder to keep the protein content high.
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen berries or cherries
- 1 orange – cut into small pieces
- ½ cup cilantro (if you don’t love cilantro, substitute with spinach)
- ½ small beet – cut into small pieces (about 1/2 – 2/3 cup)
- 3 tbsp hemp seed
- ½ small avocado or 1 small frozen banana
- 1 cup organic unsweetened soy milk
Instructions
- If you have a high-speed blender like a Vitamix, you can add all ingredients at once into the blender and mix until smooth
- If you have any other kind of blender, here are a few tips:
- Slice up the cilantro or spinach so it’s smaller and will blend more easily
- Blend the beets and berries (or cherries) and ½ cup soy milk for 30 seconds
- Add the orange and cilantro and another ½ cup of soy milk
- Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth
- You can also use cooked beets.
Notes
If you don’t have soy milk, add a half scoop of your favourite plant-based protein powder
